As projects wind down and your scaffold plank inventory returns to your yard, this is ideal time to inspect your planks for damage and establish a plan for properly storing the boards.
Ideally, you should organize your plank by size and stack like-lengths together in bundles. Between each layer, insert wood lath strips about 4 feet apart and align the strips vertically within each bundle. This allows air to circulate around each plank and prevent moisture from being trapped and causing decay.
Each bundle should then be elevated off the ground and then covered with a canvas or tarp, leaving the ends of the bundles uncovered to allow even better air circulation during storage. Storing bundles in-doors is better yet if you have the space.
