Many moons ago, prototypes were fabricated from wood. Product Development Engineers wanted to have a replica model of the product they were designing, something they could see and touch. Today, wood models have pretty much been displaced with composite tooling boards cast from resins and special ingredients, because these newer materials are easier to machine and maintain shape and size much better, resulting in an more true-to-form part in the end.
Virtually all products begin with some sort of modeled prototype. Modulan Tooling Board has become the preferred product by model makers and design studios and is used for prototyping more than just automobiles and components. Modulan is used for prototyping kitchen appliances, computer hardware, exercise equipment, office furniture, medical instruments, and a wide array other consumer goods.
